I have a Acer Aspire One Model AOA110-1588 netbook running Windows XP with all the latest updates. It is running extremely slow. It ran faster when I first got this netbook. I decided that I would restore it to its original factory defaults. This model does not have an optical drive, however the documentation states that I can restore it by selecting ALT & F10 during start-up and it would go into a restore menu and sequence getting the original setup from the secondary SSD drive. When I attempted this procedure no menu appeared.

I attempted several times and ensured that the BIOS was enabled for Disk to Disk function as specified by the manual. I have the System CDs but no way to use them except copying them to a USB Thumb Drive if that would work. Resident evil 7 free download. Does any one have a suggestion or experience with this type of a problem. Thanks, Mike •.

Above is an archive link from BleepingComputer - The quote below is from another forum - i enabled boot menu from bios to activate. + still don't work and don't know why. So use instead, then select boot from cd and put the recovery cd in. Work perfectly. I guess since the order for boot sequence is hard disk first and cd/cdrom second so it had no effect although the cd recovery is a boot cd.

So i know now. Just finished update windows XP and norton anti-virus. Feels so good!!! And the screen looks so nice when it is new. But still need to install more program.

Hope something helps - Edited by noknojon, 30 June 2012 - 01:53 AM. Artrooks, I agree that that is what the manual indicates. However, when Acer made the netbook model of the Aspire One they only made it with an 8G Hard Drive and an 8G SSD card and they left out the eRecovery program from the Start menu. The recovery program was to be available and hidden on the SSD card by using the ALT F10 sequence at start-up. That does not seem to work. They were sued and there was a resolution that involved a Recovery Disk that I never applied for.

Looking at various forums, this seems to be a fairly frequent problem. Acer doesn't address it other than to say if it doesn't work one can BUY a 'Recovery Disk' which I haven't looked into yet hoping there might be another solution. Thanks for your interest, Mike200 •. Hi Mike200, You could give this a try. The instructions below are for creating a bootable flash drive with the contents of the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP3 disk. Install Windows with a USB Flash Drive using WinToFlash.

(This is portable software) • You will need a USB Flash Drive (1 GB at least) and another computer with a CD DVDROM drive and internet connection. • Back up any important data on the computer before proceeding. • Download under Lastest Version and save it to the Desktop. • Insert the Windows XP Installation CD into the CD/DVDROM drive and plug in the USB Flash drive. • Extract the WinToFlash zip file and double click WinToFlash.exe to start the program. • WinToFlash starts a wizard that will help pull over the contents of a windows installation CD or DVD and prep the USB drive to become a bootable replacement for the optical drive. • Once the Flash drive has been made, insert it into the Acer laptop, power on, and tap the F12 key to view the Boot Menu Options.
