We all know you can play the role of the dirty mechanic that steals good parts from one customer and replaces them with worse parts. You may be asking why this is needed and the short answer is because until the player gets to start buying cars from the auctions the player has to somehow start building up his fortune since you are saving money by not having to buy a new part if you can put a similar part in it's place. Example: why spend $300 for each piston when you can make $300 for each piston by putting in pistons that meets or exceeds the minimum without having to buy a new one.

This tactic helps us make alot of cash until we are able to start making the big money from restoring auction bought cars or until we have 90% repair. First off let's talk about how to steal parts: the first thing to understand is that each car comes in with a certain overall condition rating. Let's say for this example the car comes in with 65% condition rating. This means that when the customer receives the car he expects to receive the car with the same 65% condition rating. If it's lower he will deny the car until it is back to the 65%. If it is higher well then he won't say anything and be on his way without even thanking you or tipping you for giving him lots of free part upgrades at no cost.

The second thing to understand is that you are allowed to steal a certain amount of parts. We don't know the exact amount since it is based on the overall car condition. But let's say for instance you are allowed to steal 3 parts for each category. That is a safe number.

This means that you should have no problems stealing at least 15 parts from the customer's car. Now this doesn't mean 'hey i'm going to steal 15 brake parts' because when the customer gets in his car he will see his braking system is really bad compared to when he brought it in. So instead we take like 3-5 parts from brakes and a few here and there from the other categories. The third and final thing to understand about stealing comes from stealing right from under his nose in the order itself. For instance customer comes in and needs one piston to be repaired or replaced. Well all you have to do is take the red piston out and note the location of where this red piston was located, now look at all the other pistons and take out all the other 7 pistons and put the lowest 7 pistons you have in your inventory (including the red piston you took out of his car earlier).
